IPv4 Address’ are running out!

You maybe asking yourself “What is IPv4?” and “What are IP address?”

IP address are assigned to you by your ISP (internet service provider), which you usually get through you phone or through TV company.

Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the fourth revision in the development of the Internet Protocol (IP) and it is the first version of the protocol to be widely deployed. Together with IPv6, it is at the core of standards-based internetworking methods of theInternet. IPv4 is still by far the most widely deployed Internet Layer protocol. As of 2010, IPv6 deployment is still in its infancy.

Since IPv4 went online almost 30 years ago, the internet has been crowded with new websites and people connecting to the internet. Everyone who connects to the internet get an IP address, no matter what OS or brand you use. Now that’s it’s been nearly 30 years since IPv4 went on line people have went online in huge numbers, which has now lead to a scarce amount of IPv4 IP address, and after we run out of those we will be forced to switch to IPv6 which has not been widely adopted thus far, but if studies prove right we will be out of IPv4 address by June 2011, next summer. At that time everyone will be forced to switch to IPv6 is they choose to stay online. It is expensive to developer software hardware to adopt the new internet protocol, but we will switch. Now, what happens after we run out of IPv6 address, well I do not know, but we will most likely move on to another internet protocol, IPv7? maybe! But until this it’s gonna be a long time until we reach that limit again, and by then we could have scraped the totoal idea of internet protocol. The fact of this post was and is they we are short of conventional IP address.

Skype releases iOS 4 App

After almost a month after iOS 4 has been released Skype has FINALLY released there iOS multitasking compatible app. It was released yesterday, I got it today!

I’ve been waiting forever for Skype to release there multitasking-enabled app, even though I do not use Skype a whole lot, it will be convenient in upcoming months!

So, if you haven’t updates already, Tap the App Store icon and tap Updates and it should be there, provided you have a multitasking enabled device, and provided you have Skype downloaded, if you not you can download it here.

Firefox 4, BETA 1 – Released

Firefox 4, BETA 1 was released a few days, and I have been using it for a couple of days now, while not adding supporting for HTML+WEBM it also features a new UI for Windows, as you can see in the image below.

It still has a way to go, especially compared to other web browsers, such Google Chrome and Opera. And just so you know, any browser is more advanced than ANY version of Internet Explorer! So you can download it here. I DO NOT recommended this if you are dependent on a lot of add-on’s as not all add-add-on’s are yet compatible with Firefox 4.

This post was just ment as a quick update, not a review, the review will come later when Firefox 4 final is ready.

4th of July!

Just a quick post, what are YOU doing this 4th of July or 4th of July weekend. Leave a comment! I’ll most likely I’ll be sitting at home having a small cookout, and hoping to go see fireworks sense I haven’t seen any in the past 5 years.

iOS 4 Review

If you own a iPhone or iPod touch 2G/3G you will know that iOS was released Monday, June 21st, 2010. I installed it on my iPod touch 3G 32GB, I do have multitasking. I love iOS 4, I love the new looks on it, the dock, the wallpaper, etc.

I have noticed though that my battery SEEMS to be depleting a lot faster, I think that comes more from the persistent WiFi, that another feature in iOS 4 is that the WiFi stays ON while the iPod/iPhone is in sleep mode. Of course like always you can turn that off. iOS also now features ‘Air Plane Mode’ which turns off all wireless transmitters, like Bluetooth, and WiFi. Many wallpapers that are included by default are also those seen on the iPad.

iOS 4 also features a unified inbox, so you can access all inbox’s from screen.

Multitasking is only available with the iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3rd Generation 32GB, iPod touch 3rd Generation 64GB. It is NOT available with the iPod touch 2nd generation, and the iPhone 3G. Same applies for wallpaper.

iOS 4 now includes support for iBooks, once the exclusive eBook reader to the iPad now comes to iOS 4 for all iDevices, to my knowledge. I personally love iBooks, the turning effects of the pages!

Another big feature in iOS is folders! They can contain up to 12 apps per folder!

They are automatically named depending on there category in the App Store. The folder name CAN BE renamed!

iOS 4 overall is fast, stylish, and functional. I must say that I do love and use iOS 4. I used to jailbreak for this (multitasking, and wallpapers) which I now no longer have to!

The Gulf Coast Oil Spill

As most of you know by now, on April 20th, 2010, the BP-owned Deepwater Horizon oil rig suffered a blowout, the rig sank 2 days later. 11 people lost there lives on that. It is in my opinion that BP did cut corners on safety in favor of money and time. Not only is that recklessness, it is the rudest thing to basically disregard human life in favor of money. Tomorrow, 6/18/10 will be the 60th day that crude oil will have been gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, and is now affecting wild life. BP ‘commitment’ to clean up the Gulf Coast was shown yesterday in a $20Billion escrow fund. All Tony Hayward is doing repeating and repeating, time after time to explain the effects of the Gulf Cost Oil spill. They are to afraid to admit there mistakes, and say they did nothing wrong, and never cut corners. IF they had followed proper drilling designs, there would still be 11 poeple with us right now, but no, BP cut corners knowing that the well was not functioning properly. So far, all attempts to stop the flow of oil into the Gulf has failed, including Top Kill, they have now moved to on-site containment, like the current containment dome, top hat 2.

This is not BP’s 1st enviromental disaster in the past 10-15 years,

* 1993–1995: Hazardous substance dumping

In September 1999, one of BP’s US subsidiaries, BP Exploration Alaska (BPXA), agreed to resolve charges related to the illegal dumping of hazardous wastes on the Alaska North Slope, for $22 million. The settlement included the maximum $500,000 criminal fine, $6.5 million in civil penalties, and BP’s establishment of a $15 million environmental management system at all of BP facilities in the US and Gulf of Mexico that are engaged in oil exploration, drilling or production. The charges stemmed from the 1993 to 1995 dumping of hazardous wastes on Endicott Island, Alaska by BP’s contractor Doyon Drilling. The firm illegally discharged waste oil, paint thinner and other toxic and hazardous substances by injecting them down the outer rim, or annuli, of the oil wells. BPXA failed to report the illegal injections when it learned of the conduct, in violation of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.

* 2005 – Texas City Oil Refinery, 15 people killed.

* 2010 – Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Now those are just three, there are more if you were read on BP’s Wikipedia page.

BP, to my understanding, will be held responsible in this oil spill, rightfully so.

In my opinion BP needs to be shutdown, there have been way to many incidents that have been caused by safety corners cut.

In 05-06 BP had 760 incitements by OSHA while other oil companies combined have less then 20.

My message to the American people is to make sure BP gets either fined a seriously big fine, or shutdown, and to make sure they ALL oil companies have the correct oil spill response guides.

iPhone 4 & iOS 4

Apple, during it WWDC/Keynote, today released the iPhone 4, which was previously leaked, and wrote about on Gizmodo… Refer to an earlier article that I wrote Jason Chen getting his stuff stolen about the police. Apple also released today iOS 4, renaming it from iPhone OS 4 to iOS 4, which to my understanding is used by Cisco(iOS).

As most of us know iOS 4 contains over 100+ new feature among them are:

* Multitasking

* Folders

* and, iAd

and many, many more!

The update will come free to all current iPod touch (2G, 3G), and iPhone (3G, 3G[S]) users…

iPhone 4 will be for public sale on: June 24, 2010

iOS 4 will be for public download on: June 21, 2010

The new iPhone 4 also has:

* 3-Axis Gyroscop

* Front-Facing Camera

* Smaller than 3G/G[S]

Note: iPod touch 3rd Gen 32GB and 64GB or the iPhone 4/3G[S] will be the only device that support multitasking in iOS 4.

I love this new device, and I don’t even have, I want one though!

Summer Break!

May 28, 2010, I closed a chapter in the “book of life”; I finished off my Middle School years (6-8th grades), and now I’m FREE for 2 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t go back till around the beginning of August! WOOT!

Hopefully now though I can now have more time to research new stuff and write about them!
