Gizmodo editor has technology confiscated

I was on IRC, when one of my friends posted a link to this: http://gizmodo.com/5524843/police-seize-jason-chens-computers

When I read the article/picture, the first thing that crossed my mind was that – What the… it even his fault (that the iPhone 4G was lost); his computers and equipment should NOT have been confiscated in my opinion. And it’s a phone; not like they bought or stole a priceless gem. And also I don’t think it was a very right for the police to just break into his home and and basically steal every piece of technology equipment they saw…

Look at this inventory (photo), they can’t even spell external (wrote as exsternal), or server (wrote as seasrver) right.

The mis-spellings kind of lead me to believe that theses could invalid or false inventories.

In my opinion the iPhone Dev that left the Apple premises with the iPhone 4G has more to blame here then Jason Chen, the iPhone Dev should have NOT been able to leave with the iPhone, Apple could have tested the device under real world conditions  without just ‘handing them out’ to there employees.

What are your opinions, and thoughts on this? let me know in the comments!
